Cards Remain Hot Through 2011
Arugh, five-year deals for pitchers. Don't like 'em. But if that's what it takes to keep Carp around, I guess that is what it takes. I'm not thrilled about the years (the money is fine). Every pitcher is one windup away from a blown elbow. In the P-D story, Strauss mentions there are some offers out there:
Meanwhile, general manager Walt Jocketty, who is at baseball’s winter meetings, said the team had made offers to free-agent pitchers Jason Schmidt, Vicente Padilla and Miguel Batista. All are righthanders.Well then. We'll see what happens.
